Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MEM23113 - Evaluate hydrodynamic systems and system components

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Establish scope of hydrodynamic system

  1. Determine fluid systems and system components to be evaluated
  2. Identify stakeholders to be consulted on evaluation task
  3. Confirm that appropriate support, including technical and professional assistance, is available
  4. 1.4 Determine WHS and regulatory requirements, risk management and organisational procedures
  5. Investigate sustainability implications of hydrodynamic applications

Evaluate hydrodynamic system and components

  1. Assess components and system compatibility with fluid properties
  2. Assess suitability of pumps and pump performance in hydrodynamic system
  3. Assess forces on bends and section changes in piping systems and confirm they are within specification
  4. Assess hydrodynamic performance of components including fittings, valves and hoses
  5. Assess open channel systems and optimise for required flow rates
  6. Evaluate collar and cylindrical bearings subject to boundary, transitional and hydrodynamic lubrication
  7. Record outcomes of evaluation
  8. Provide documentation including calculations, component and system layouts, and functional diagrams
